In many companies glue residue is still scraped off or polished by hand. With PUR adhesive this is particularly laborious, because cured PUR can only be removed mechanically. It is better not to let residue form or stick in the first place.
Check the basics first
- Application quantity and glue temperature (measure at the roller)
- Condition of glue roller, jointing cutter and pressure rollers
- Do not process panels and edges that are too cold
How the fluids work together
- Release agent before the jointing cutter (Lc 2/10 or iRelease): squeezed-out glue does not stick to the surface.
- Protective agent in the pressing zone (Lc 2/40): rollers stay clean, no marks.
- Antistatic cooling agent (Lc 2/20): the joint sets faster, less glue builds up on tools.
- Cleaning agent directly before buffing (Lc 2/30 or iClean): loosens residue so the wheels can pick it up.
Marks from the top pressure belt?
Glue residue from earlier passes – e.g. when several sides are edged – binds dirt and is pressed in via the belt. The remedy is to let every side leave the machine clean: the right fluids at every position and well-adjusted finishing, for example with flap and cloth wheels or BRUSH-tec®.
