Since its founding, Ludewig Chemische Mittel GmbH (LcM®) has established itself as a leading provider of innovative solutions in the wood processing and furniture industries. With a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and technological innovation, the company looks back on an impressive history characterized by continuous growth and groundbreaking developments.

Origins of edge banding machines in East Westphalia

Perfect edges come from East Westphalia – the origins of automated edge banding machines date back to the 1960s, when the foundation for narrow-surface processing as we know it today was laid. With the advent of these innovative machines, the range of new glues and adhesives also grew over time. The materials used for the edges of the respective workpieces also became more diverse and, in terms of processing, more sophisticated.

But with the sometimes revolutionary adhesives and the advancing machines, problems arose that had never existed before in the manual processing of edges and workpieces: machine parts became stuck together, the work became sloppy, and the finish on most edges was anything but perfect. With this problem in mind, LcM GmbH was founded. Together with the wood and furniture industries, we have been developing chemical solutions for edge and surface processing for over 15 years. Our goal is to provide you with products that optimize all processes in the edge banding machine, thus ensuring the best possible end result for your production.

Solvent-free products and innovations

In addition to traditional protective, release, cleaning, and cooling agents, we have impressed our customers with our solvent-free chemical products, most notably the world's first solvent- and silicone-free release agent. We are proud of this milestone and are pleased to introduce this and many other chemical products to you below.

The importance of further development in the furniture industry

In the furniture industry, as in every other industry, continuous development is key. Faster, better, and further is at the top of the agenda here. As a result, our customers' workpieces and edge processing machines have also undergone some changes, and processing requirements have become increasingly stringent, while the classic buffing unit, for example, has hardly changed. For this reason – and because we wanted even better results in combination with our chemical agents – we looked for a unit whose tool has a larger contact surface and can process the edges of the workpieces more completely.

Introduction and development of the BRUSH-tec® system

The BRUSH-tec® system has been part of the LcM® family since 2016 and is continually optimized and further developed by our development and technology team. Depending on the model, our units are used for edge or surface processing and, in combination with our cleaning agents, ensure a significant improvement in the quality of through-feed technology. Starting with our BRUSH-tec® E, which was developed for edge processing, our in-house portfolio now also includes the BRUSH-tec® ES, the BRUSH-tec® EXS, and the BRUSH-tec® SF.
